The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy.

TikTok Challange Image 

We want you to create TikToks that lead first-time voters through the voting process and are willing to put our money where our mouth is! The League of Women Voters of Mobile (LWVM) and the Leadership Mobile Class of 2023 Government Project Group are sponsoring the Increasing Voting Youth 2023 (IVY23) TikTok Challenge with cash prizes.

1st prize - $150

2nd prize - $100

3rd prize - $50

Challenge ends September 19th. Winners will be notified on September 26th.

          TERMS AND CONDITIONS

SUBMISSIONS

  1. Creators must be high school or college students in Mobile County.
  2. Individuals or teams may enter more than one submission.
  1. The TikTok must be original and abide by U.S. Copyright Law (run a “copyright check” in TikTok before uploading)
  2. The winners of the challenge will be judged by members of the League of Women Voters of Mobile and the Leadership Mobile Government Project Group

  • Views
  • Originality
  • Follows content guidelines below

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR TIKTOK

  1. Upload your video to TikTok by 5:00 p.m. CDT September 19th, 2023.
  2. Set your video to public and tag and follow @lwvmobile to make sure we are notified of your submission.
  3. Use the #s #IVY23 , and the related content # (listed below)

CHALLENGE PRIZES

  1. The Principal TikTok account holder of the top three TikTok videos will receive a cash prize

  1. It is up to the Principal TikTok account holder and co-creators to determine how the prize will be shared by contributors.
  2. Individuals or teams may enter more than one TikTok.

CONTENT OF THE VIDEO(S)

IVY23 video must communicate the concepts in one of the four categories listed below. How you express it is up to you—with a dance, song, impersonations…let your creativity flow!

    • You are the next generation! Voting now and participating in political decisions will ensure that you have a future to look forward to.
    • If you want a future with a job, accessible healthcare, and anything else that is important to you, you need to fight for it! 
    • Do you know that only about half of eligible young adults aged 18-24 are registered to vote? 

How to Register #HowToRegister

  • It's easy! So, come on, get registered to vote--
  • You can register online at the Alabama Secretary of State’s website or by using a Voter Registration form. 
  • You will need an Alabama Driver’s license or a Non-Driver ID card.
  • You have to be at least 18 on election day and a US citizen and a resident of Alabama.
  • The deadline to register is 14 days before the election.
  • Election laws vary from state to state.

How to Find Information About the Ballot #FindBallotInfo

  • To find information on what is going to be on the ballot, you can enter your address into sample ballot generators like those at Vote 411 or Ballotpedia.
  • Look at a candidate’s campaign website and social media to get a sense of the candidate’s background, values, style and position on the issues.
  • Ask your neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family members for their opinions.
  • Look for candidate forums hosted by nonpartisans groups such as the League of Women Voters.
  • The Secretary of State’s website will have a generic sample ballot.

Election Day #ElectionDayHowTo

  • Polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm on election day. If you aren’t sure where to go to vote, contact your local Board of Registrars.
  • Remember to bring a valid from of photo ID to the polls.
  • Poll workers are there to assist and direct you through the process.
  • You will be given a pen to fill in the paper ballot. If you mess it up—no worries. Just let a poll workers know. They’ll give you a new ballot.
  • Take your completed ballot to the secure voting machines which will electronically tally the votes.
  • Congratulations! You have cast a ballot! Don’t forget to grab an “I Voted” sticker and wear it proudly! Watch the election results—you made a difference!

RIGHTS AND LIABILITIES

  1.  It is assumed that each creator or participant has given their permission to the League of Women Voters of Mobile and Leadership Mobile the “right to reproduce, redact for personalization, archive and communicate their submission for education or academic research purposes.”
  2. The Principal TikTok account holder and co-creators grant to the League of Women Voters of Mobile the right to edit and reproduce submissions at their discretion.
  3. The Principal TikTok account holder and co-creators acknowledge that the League of Women Voters of Mobile:
    (i) has “no responsibility for any liability, loss or injury, howsoever arising, which entrants may incur or suffer in carrying out any task or activity associated with or consequent upon preparation of their submission”;
    (ii) has “the right to disqualify any entry based on non-compliance with these rules, [submission criteria or] any copyright infringements”;
    (iii) “will not be liable for copyright infringement on the part of the participants”.
  4. The League of Women Voters reserves the right to cancel the participation of a Participant for any of the following conditions: (i) fraud committed by the Participant in the framework of the Challenge, (ii) publication of content that is sexually explicit or suggestive, violent or abusive to any person or any ethnic, racial, sexual, religious, professional or age group; (iii) promotion of alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, weapons in general or firearms in particular (or the use of any of the foregoing); (iv) promotion of any activity that may be considered unethical, illegal or dangerous; (v) dissemination of obscene or offensive language or encouraging any form of hate or hate propaganda group; (vi) defamation, libel, distortion, false or misleading information or publication of content containing detrimental or derogatory comments about other people, groups or companies; (vii) violation of any applicable laws or regulations, including, but not limited to, those governing copyright, content, defamation, privacy and publicity.
